Transforming MNP Gateway: From Manual Hassles to Automated Excellence

The Challenge :

The Mobile Number Portability (MNP) Gateway system, a critical infrastructure for subscriber onboarding and call maturation processes, currently requires 24x7 manual monitoring by support engineers.

This system's availability and performance are vital for ensuring seamless subscriber experiences and uninterrupted telecommunication services. However, the reliance on continuous human supervision poses significant challenges and risks, including:

  1. Human Resource Dependency: Continuous manual monitoring demands a substantial allocation of support engineers, leading to high operational costs and potential fatigue among staff, which can compromise the quality of monitoring and response.

  2. Response Delays: Human monitoring inherently involves reaction times that can delay the identification and resolution of issues, potentially leading to prolonged system downtimes and impacting subscriber services.

  3. Error Prone: Manual processes are susceptible to human errors, which can result in missed alerts or incorrect assessments of system status, further exacerbating downtime and service disruptions.

  4. Scalability Issues: As the subscriber base grows, the demand for monitoring increases, requiring additional human resources and further escalating operational costs.

  5. Operational Efficiency: The need for 24x7 human monitoring reduces the overall operational efficiency, diverting resources that could be allocated to proactive system improvements and other strategic tasks.

Impact of System Downtime :

The MNP Gateway system's downtime directly affects:

  • Subscriber OnBoarding: Inability to process new subscriber requests promptly, leading to customer dissatisfaction and potential loss of revenue.

  • Call Maturation: Wrong route number can lead to calls not getting matured, affecting the overall quality of service and customer experience.

Objective :

To address these challenges, Megthink engineering team build a RPA (robotics automation process) framework which is integrated into the Megthink MNP gateway, there was a critical need to transition from manual to automated monitoring solutions for the MNP Gateway system. This has enhanced system reliability, reduced human dependency, and ensure prompt and accurate issue resolution, thereby safeguarding subscriber services and maintaining high standards of operational efficiency.

Solution :

Implemented an automated RPA monitoring system equipped with real-time alerts, self-healing capabilities, and advanced analytics that mitigate the outlined risks and improve the overall management of the MNP Gateway system.

This solution has helped us to:

  • Automated Monitoring

  • Reduced Operational Costs

  • Improved Response Time

  • Enhanced Scalability
